Update on Amirah

Well things got real crazy in the beginning of August, so I have not been able to find a free moment to get on and update everyone.

Amirah is home and doing well, she still has to go to LPCH once a month for follow up appointments.  She will be home schooled till January, because her immune system is not at a hundred percent.

This way just a real quick and brief FYI, I hope to get back on in the next couple of days to give a more detailed account of the events that have transpired over the past month.

DAY +100!!! The Big Day!!

Well today is day 100. Yeah that turned out to be nothing more then a number. Doctors still have no ideal when we will be going home. But it does seem like it is getting closer. Amirah normally has IVIG every Monday but she has not had IVIG since July 25. So that tells me it is getting close just don't know how close. Amirah is still going in every Monday for lads, this is just to get an ideal what her body is doing all on its own. That's all I have for you medically.

Well the boys left this morning, Versy wants to relax before he goes back to work from being off for the last three weeks on vacation.

RMH got one of the tennis player from the US Open come and visit the kids. Sophia (don't remember what her last name was) from Sweden, she is ranked 2nd in Sweden and 57th in the world. Very nice young lady.

At LPCH the lady that checks us in, her name is Marylou and we have grown very fond of her and I believe the feeling is mutual. Well her fiance Steve (AKA RaiderBee) is a member of the Raider Nation out of the San Jose Chapter. Amirah has stolen a little piece of his heart with out him even knowing!!! (Hope your smiling Steve.) Well he surprised Amirah with a signed ball from a lot of people. (Players, Raideretts, Raider Nation member and others.) I believe because of Amirah Steve is getting his Chapter to start sponsoring the RMH. (Steve correct me if I'm wrong.) Amirah was just thrilled and feels so special.

This is who signed the ball.

Day +99

The kids really wanted to go fishing, so I decided to find a place to go. So I picked Half Moon Bay and if we fish of the pier or the rocks we do not need a fishing license. I bought some squid to put on the kids fishing lines. GROSS!!!! The kids had fun and so did I. Out on the pier where I decided to go there was a pelican that way to friendly. Versy was at one end of the pier smoking a cigar and the pelican decided he was going to join Versy for a smoke. LOL. As he walked closer to Versy the more Versy walked to get away from the pelican. Boy it was a sight to see!! Poor kids did not a thing except Amirah did catch a surgical glove full of sand!!

Day +97

Well today Amirah and I are taking Versy and Deuce to Shoreline Park and to see Google. We took the kids out on a paddle boat.

Peddling that boat was a workout. Versy and I peddled for almost an hour straight. After our boat ride I drove the boys by all the Google buildings. They were not as amazed as I was, boring boys!!

Today RMH is also having their birthday celebrations for all the kids with birthdays in July. Once again Palo Alto Fire Dept. comes out with all their trucks and lets the kids stray the fire hose. Deuce had a blast he his such a boy he was in heaven. They also make the best BBQ. Go PAFD!!!

Day +96

Well Versy and Deuce come up for their last visit before Versy has to go back to work for being off for 3 week now!!
Every time Deuce sees me know I'm knitting or crocheting so he calls me Grandma and that I'm old. I ask why he calls me that and he said very innocently that, that is what Grandma's and old people do. I just laugh and say no anyone at any age can do it!! I still think it is funny.

Versy and I have figured that I have made about 20 different things from hats, scarfs and blankets plus countless headbands and flowers for the head bands.

Day +94

Off to Shoreline Park!!! This park is really nice, they paddle boats, row boats, kayaks and sailboats. We walked around for a little while till my every thin always starving sister was dying to eat. At Shoreline Park they also have a cafe with outside dinning. Tyara got fries and Amirah got a frozen lemonade. While we were sitting there minding our own business a very friendly squirrel decided he want to join us!!! LOL
This is right behind the chair I was sitting in. It made me a little nervous so I shooed him and he hoped down.
Look how close he is to my foot!!! After he was done eating this french fry that Amirah have him he tried to climb up my chair leg!!! Now that made me real nervous.
After our close encounter with wild life we felt it was best to make our journey back to RMH. Leaving the park we realized we were in Google land!!!! Google building were everywhere on every street every corner. Can you believe Google has a beach volleyball court for their employees and a pool for them to use at their leisure!!! They have Google bikes everywhere for their employees to ride. It also looks like they are for anyone who wants to use them as well. They are laying everywhere unsecured all over the place.

Day +93 A day in SF

RMH treated some of the kids to a trip to the Exploratorium. So Auntie, Amirah and myself went to have some fun at the Exploratorium and San Fransisco. SF better watch their self three crazy girls are on the loose!! LOL. I had just as much fun this time as I did with Deuce, Dawn and Jonathan. Amirah really wanted to go play the drums she said she was so jealous when she saw Deuce on the drums.

We stayed at the Exploratorium for about 4 hours. If you ever come to SF with kids please visit the Exploratorium you and your children well have a blast. After the Exploratorium we drove to Lombard street. Yes I drove the Suburban down that curvy street. I suggest that you only visit this street during the week because on the weekends the traffic and lines are just crazy.
Before Auntie would lets go back to the RMH she had to go to her favorite Mexican fast food place called Chino's. She swears by their supreme quesadillas. Chino's is not half bad, but all I go was their supreme quesadilla.
